Great piece. It made me reflect on how I think of unstable ground and a continuous housing crisis as "home" and any city with hundred-year-old walls as foreign.
Nice to hear from you, Dylan, particularly since you were there for some of what I write about. Glad you enjoyed the piece, and even gladder you subscribed!
Peter - wow a big decision. Welcome back to the East. Hope we can see you while in Chautauqua his summer. Beautiful essay reflecting on your thinking. Looking forward to reading more about this new era. Interestingly, a good friend our age who had been living in Santa Monica for about 10 years, just decided to make Aliyah to Israel. Maybe its not a coincidence?
Wow- I never would have thought you’d return to this little world called Corning after having found the glamorous western way. So much of the Corning you knew has faded- although bits of it are still there if you look closely- and the newer regime has moved in. I hope it does provide you with the breath of fresh air you have been looking for.
I think it’s neat that you’re living in CFA. I so much want to get in there to see what they did. Enjoy hearing the factory whistle- music to the natives.
Hope some day we bump into each other on Market Street.

To wander, to live with intention. To laugh and to learn. May you find peace

Well darn! I thought I might come down and visit you in Santa Cruz one day. Sorry I missed you.
I like your idea of ‘constructing this next chapter of your life intentionally and on your own terms.’ I look forward to reading about it.
Great writing! Welcome back to the East Coast. I wonder what Becca is up to these days?
Welcome home! It’s great to have you back in town, and I look forward to your articles as you start this new chapter in life!
